The Community Points program was created to support the clean–up of harm reduction debris in the city of Hamilton. Staff and Volunteers respond to service calls Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. The community is encouraged to contact the program by phone (905)546-CITY(2489) to inform them of any potential hazards in the area. The program serves all areas of the city, as the goal of the program is to prevent any harm to people of the community. When dispatched to an area either by phone or email, The Harm Reduction Worker and volunteer travel to the designated area and look for the reported materials, as well as any other materials that could be of danger. On days where there are no service calls or emails, areas known in the community as "Hot Spots" are searched. These are areas known to be where using takes place. The areas are searched for dangerous materials, which are collected and recorded. If you or anyone you may know who may be interested in receiving education, training, and support concerning safe needle pickup and handling, please feel free to call 905-536-0399 or email at HarmReduction@aidsnetwork.ca
