Ways to Help  /  Become a Volunteer

The strength of The AIDS Network lies in the commitment and services provided by the efforts of over 200 dedicated volunteers. Without volunteer effort, we would be challenged to continue providing the broad scope of support services and extensive educational outreach that we offer.

All volunteers undergo a general orientation about The AIDS Network, roles and responsibilities of volunteers, and basic education about HIV & AIDS. Depending upon your area of interest, further program specific training is provided as needed.

All volunteers must agree to protect client confidentiality, and must accept in principle the current Mission Statement, Values, Objectives and Goals as set out in our Constitution. Volunteer positions that involve direct client contact require a Police Clearance Certificate. There are many ways for you to get involved!
  • Join our special events team- put a team together for the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life or join an event planning committee. It's a great way to meet new people and learn new skills.
  • Donate food or prizes to events or the agency.
  • Host a fundraiser to benefit The AIDS Network.
  • Put our ad in your community newsletter, company e-bulletin or put a poster up at your workplace.
  • Ask us to speak at your workplace, church or social group.
  • Come to our office to help with reception and administrative duties.
  • Staff community information displays at various local events.
